Overview

Gain key business skills or sharpen those you've already developed in the workplace. This flexible program is often pursued by mature working students who want to upgrade their education and skills to prepare for advancement in their careers.

You’ll choose from Commerce and Business Administration courses in your field of interest, such as accounting, finance, economics, management, business law, computing studies and information systems, and or/marketing.

Get valuable work experience through the Business Internship program  

In the Business Internship Program, you’ll apply the theory and knowledge you’ve learned in class into a real-world business setting. During your unpaid part-time internship, you’ll be assigned tasks and projects that junior management, marketing, business, administrative and/or sales employees complete in the modern workplace. 

To be accepted into the internship program, you must contact the Career Centre early in your studies at Douglas College. 

Further education

Upon completion of specific courses, you can transfer your credits into the Diploma in Commerce and Business Administration program or any Bachelor of Business Administration program at Douglas.

Note: Prerequisites to many courses offered by the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration is:

  • Foundations of Math 11 or Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent or Business Readiness Assessment

Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you check each individual course prerequisite and ensure that you have completed this Mathematic requirement prior to registration.

  • Successful completion of 30 credits
  • 25% (8 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College*
  • A minimum program GPA of 2.00 is required

*Effective for Summer 2017 graduation, a minimum of 50% of the required program courses must be taken at Douglas College. 

** A university transferable course is a course that transfer to one of the 5 Research Universities - SFU, UBC, UBCO, UNBC or UVIC – according to the BC Transfer Guide.
