The Diploma in General Studies allows you to explore your interests through courses in the humanities, sciences, performing arts and business, all while accumulating credits that - when chosen carefully - can transfer to university or another program at Douglas. Participate in discussions and presentations, and engage in classroom lectures to develop and enhance your critical thinking, writing, research and presentation skills, competencies that are crucial to success in your career or further education.

Curriculum framework

Graduation Requirements For Students Completing By Summer 2023:

  • Successful completion of 60 credits
  • Must include one university-transfer English or Communications course
  • A minimum of two courses from at least three different faculties
  • A maximum of 15 credits in one subject as defined by the four-letter course abbreviation (ex. BIOL, CRIM, ECON, etc.)
  • Time limit to complete program graduation requirements: seven (7) years
Graduation Requirements For Students Completing After Summer 2023:
  • Successful completion of 60 credits
  • Must include one university-transfer English or Communications course
  • A minimum of two courses from at least three different faculties
  • A maximum of 15 credits in one subject as defined by the four-letter course abbreviation (ex. BIOL, CRIM, ECON, etc.)
  • 50% (30 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College
  • Graduate in Good Academic Standing (Cumulative GPA of 1.50 – See Academic Performance Policy)
  • Time limit to complete program graduation requirements: seven (7) years
