In the final year of the institution’s 2015-2020 strategic plan, Douglas College began asking our community a simple question: Are we on track?
The answer, uncovered through a series of college-wide surveys was a resounding yes. The College community broadly supported the direction the institution was heading. But it was also clear that the institution needed more. Having completed 97% of the initiatives in the previous plan, the community was eager to go further and make Douglas even better.
The future of Douglas College can be broken down into four themes:
Successful students
Naturally, we want to see our students succeed. We recognize that success comes in many forms (e.g. educational attainment, personal development, life goals, career advancement, etc.). Douglas College will empower students to be active partners in their educational experiences and focus on the holistic educational experience, by recognizing that a college education extends beyond the classroom.
Responsive learning environments
We’ll continue to enhance the relevance and quality of our programming by keeping an eye out for new programs and exploring new delivery methods, as well as improving campus physical spaces to create safe, healthy and effective environments for students and all employee groups.
Social and environmental responsibility
We’ll act on our institutional values to continue to push Douglas College towards a more just and sustainable future including aligning practices and processes with UNDRIP and supporting educational programming that is socially and environmentally progressive.
Healthy and effective work and learning environment
We will align College values with College practices associated with health and wellness including long-term planning, modernizing business processes and digital environments, professional development, mental wellness and adaptability.
