These two Music Technology Prep courses are designed to provide potential applicants to the Music Technology Diploma program with the skills and knowledge required for entry in the program.
Please note that participation in these courses does not guarantee acceptance into the Music Technology Diploma program.
While the Music Technology Prep courses are suggested for prospective Douglas College students, neither class is mandatory.
The classes are also available to anyone interested in an introduction to recording engineering technology and music theory. No previous experience is necessary.
MTD PREP THEORY - CRN 31423
This course is designed to teach the rudimentary elements of music theory and to prepare the student to meet the requirements for the Music Technology Diploma theory entrance assessment. The materials covered in this class are approximate to the materials assessed by the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Grade 8 Theory Exam.

MTD PREP TECHNOLOGY - CRN 31424
Through lecture/demonstrations and hands-on lab work, this course will introduce the basic theoretical and practical applications of digital music technology, in particular the project-studio environment: a computer-based Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).
