Welcome to the Faculty of Health Sciences
The Health Sciences Faculty has a 40-year history of high-quality, professional health science programs. The Douglas College Faculty of Health Sciences provides education for the new millennium, combining an optimum experience with theory, skills, and clinical education. Health Sciences graduates are ready to work in health care settings in hospitals, clinics, community, and the emerging world of technology in health care. With experience, graduates undertake professions in education, research, leadership, and a variety of specialist fields. At the present time, certificates, diplomas, and degrees are offered in:
- Continuing Education (certificates)
- Health Care Support Worker (certificate)
- Health Information Management (diploma)
- Nursing (bachelor's degree)
- Psychiatric Nursing (bachelor's degree)
Additionally, Health Sciences is developing programs that integrate health science outcomes with field settings outside of the British Columbia Lower Mainland. Students are provided with opportunities to utilize and expand their skill sets with program and conference opportunities in a variety of regional, national, and global settings. Health care careers provide an excellent future, with graduates readily obtaining employment locally and regionally, with many graduates progressing their careers with future education and experience into a multitude of roles both nationally and internationally.
