About
Jakub Burkowicz completed his PhD at SFU in 2016 and joined Douglas College as a regular faculty member in 2017. His work in sociology is situated at the crossroads of social movements, race and ethnicity, and sociological theory.
Jakub has conducted research and published on such social movements as No One Is Illegal and Antifa. He broadly utilizes poststructuralism, and specifically Foucault and Taguieff, in order to examine the discourses of antiracism.
Jakub is the co-author of the introductory sociology textbook, Society: the basics, currently in its 7th Canadian edition.
