Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum 

Course DescriptionViolence prevention education and resources have become a priority for all BC health care organizations due to the increasing prevalence of violent incidents in health care. Health care employers have made a provincial commitment to protect workers from workplace violence.

NOTE: Payment must accompany registration. If payment is not made within 24 hours, students will be dropped and need to re-register.

 

Please refer to the refund policy noted here. It is the student’s responsibility to confirm they are required to take the course prior to the refund deadline. No refunds will be given, and no transfers will be accommodated after that date. 

 

HCAP students: You must connect with CE Registration to withdraw if you do not plan to attend and must abide by the CEHS refund policy noted above.  

Grading

This is a mastery/non-mastery course.

 

Students will receive a card showing completion at the end of the course. You will receive a digital certificate of completion via the Learning Hub. You will need to set up an account and provide your instructor with the email that you used. 

 

Students must attend the entirety of the session to be given a completion card. If the student arrives more than 30 minutes late, they will not be admitted and will have to re-register. It is the student's responsibility to be on time for their session. 

Pre-Requisites

Enrolment in a Health Sciences program or employment in a health care setting.

Students who register are understood to be confirming they meet this requirement. Proof of this requirement is not required on registration but may be requested by Douglas College. For online classes, working webcams and microphones are imperative and must remain on for the duration of the class.

Registration

To register, please fill out our web form, or call the CE Registration Office at (604) 527-5472 and quote the CRN of the session you are interested in. If you are a current or previous student, please have your student number ready.

 

Registration ends 2 business days prior to the course offering. All refund and transfer requests must be made prior to that date.

 

NOTE: While the College does everything it can to ensure that courses will proceed, we reserve the right to cancel an offering up to 2 days prior to the start date if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. Full refunds or transfer options will be issued in the event of cancellation.

Delivery

Whether the course is hosted online or in person, students must access the course module on Blackboard, our online learning platform. There will be course content to download for the class.

RefresherAnother course that we offer through Continuing Education is the PVPC Refresher. This is a 1 hour course that can be taken as a follow up to the full 8 hour PVPC class to renew your certification. It must be taken within one calendar year of passing the full PVPC course.
