How Abby Verigin turned her passion into a career
Moving to a big city was intimidating for Physical Education & Coaching alumnus Abby Verigin, but Douglas College’s supportive community made the transition seamless for her.
A highlight of her time at Douglas was when she taught her first fitness class in 2018. Through her program, Abby was able to continue teaching classes at the College’s fitness centre up until Summer 2023.
Now that she has graduated, Abby is pursuing a career in yoga therapy and her goal is to open a studio where she can teach people about the power of movement. She wants to create a safe and inclusive space for people of all fitness backgrounds to feel comfortable moving their bodies. Even though she only graduated in 2020, Abby is already making headway toward this goal as she’s currently juggling being a functional fitness instructor, yoga therapist and wellness coach.
From her time at Douglas College, Abby learned the importance of finding one's passion and turning it into a career. She wakes up every day excited to help others with the knowledge and experiences she received from Douglas and hopes others do the same.
