How Jocelyn Marsh Applies Her Douglas College Veterinary Technology Education Professionally and Personally

Passionate about animal care, Jocelyn Marsh pursued the Veterinary Technology (VTEC) program at Douglas College with a dream of a career in animal advocacy.

Apart from the knowledge she gained in the VTEC program, her time in school shaped her into who she is today. The small, intimate class sizes allowed her to gain an openness to change and grow, both personally and professionally. She believes these two things can create waves of change in the industry.

Outside of her professional career, she is also determined to further sustainability practices and ocean conservation efforts. In 2021, Jocelyn created the Love Our Oceans Project (LOOP), which aims to promote sustainability across the Veterinary field, including practices like pill vial recycling, and a weight-based methodology for measuring controlled medications to reduce plastics entering the environment.

In 2022, Jocelyn brought her work full circle, becoming a Laboratory Facilitator at Douglas College in the VTEC Department. There, she supports and mentors future Veterinary Technicians, providing more support and care for animals.
