Dr. Savitri Singh-Carlson’s journey to a successful nursing career
Savitri Singh-Carlson’s extensive education and successful career in healthcare began with Douglas College’s Registered Nursing program. It was an accessible choice that provided her with the prerequisites to go on and complete a Doctorate in Nursing from the University of Alberta. Just from attending the program’s information session, Savitri was excited to start her journey at Douglas College and tap into her lifelong love for science in the healthcare field.
From her first day at Douglas, she saw the school’s impact on the community and how its students shape the world. Savitri is a testament to this, as she is a successful Nurse Researcher who has won a prestigious national fellowship from the American Association of College Nursing and national Canadian Nursing Oncology Researcher of Year Award. Savitri's research career collaboratively with BC Cancer as a Nurse Researcher explores cancer care within the South Asian and Asian populations. She is a professor at San Diego State University where she aspires to replicate the kindness she received from teachers at Douglas with her own students.
