Course description
This field work experience provides student with the opportunity to make analytical observations and gain personal competence in a supervised physical activity or teaching setting. If needed, students will complete Basic First Aid training and CPR-level C training at the beginning of this course.

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this fieldwork course, the student shall be able to:

  1. Demonstrate basic first aid and CPR level C skills sufficient for certification.
  2. Demonstrate punctuality in keeping appointments.
  3. Demonstrate appropriate attire selection to match workplace needs.
  4. Demonstrate respectful communication practices.
  5. Analyze the individual roles and responsibilities present in a learning activity.
  6. Implement directions and follow orders related to assigned tasks.
  7. Reflect on his or her ability to follow directions.
  8. Describe in his or her own words the emotional intelligence concepts of self-awareness and self-regulation.
Means of assessment

The selection of evaluation tools for this course is based upon:

  1. Adherence to college evaluation policy regarding number and weighing of evaluations, for example a course of three credits or more should have at least three separate evaluations.
  2. A developmental approach to evaluation that is sequenced and progressive.
  3. Evaluation is used as a teaching tool for both students and instructors.
  4. Commitment to student participation in evaluation through such processes as self and peer evaluation, and program/ instructor evaluation.
