Honouring their commitment to innovation and leadership in their respective fields, Douglas College presented Dr. Stephen Welch, Dr. Shaun Tyakoff and the late Dr. Scott Wilson with Faculty Emeriti titles at the Employee Recognition Celebration at the New Westminster Campus on April 4, 2025.

The honorary title of Emeritus/Emerita is given to select retired faculty, staff and administrators in acknowledgement of their excellence and distinguished service to Douglas College.

Dr. Stephen Welch, who taught Psychology, was recognized for 35 years of teaching and service excellence at the College. Dr. Welch is known for his creativity, innovation, stability and consistency. He is described as a dedicated and exceptional educator, supportive colleague and valued mentor. At the heart of developing and expanding the Psychology Department, Dr. Wilson devoted himself to focusing on the needs of his students and sharing knowledge and expertise with new faculty members.
