From Criminology Student to Powerlifting Champion: Sumeet Sharma's Story
Sumeet Sharma discovered criminology in high school and decided to pursue it at Douglas College. During his time at Douglas, he was inspired by the engaging lectures and encouraging instructors. He is thankful for those who taught him to never give up on his dream and to always work hard for what he is passionate about.
Sumeet eventually graduated from the Criminology program and went on to start a successful career as a Corrections Officer at BC Corrections. Outside his career, Sumeet found a passion for powerlifting, something that empowers him and has given him a platform for positivity.
He qualified for the World Powerlifting Championships in 2020, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the pandemic. However, Sumeet was determined to make a difference, donating his competition sponsorship money to local hospitals and elementary school teachers.
In the future, Sumeet hopes to spread his charitable actions worldwide, and to continue sharing speeches on powerlifting and health to classrooms across the Lower Mainland.
