Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate professionalism in the clinical environment.
- Interact with co-workers, clients and family members in a professional manner.
- Conduct a pre-test client case history and identify contraindications to performing a hearing test.
- Refer client to appropriate medical provider based on case history and/or test findings.
- Identify appropriate amplification options based on test results and client case history.
- Provide instructions to the client and family on care and use of hearing aids during dispensing.
- Provide the client and their family with realistic expectations for amplification results based on type of hearing loss.
- Assist clients based on various issues and concerns with their hearing aids.
The course evaluation is consistent with the Douglas College Evaluation Policy. This is a mastery course.
No textbooks required. A student practicum manual will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the semester.
