Upon successful completion of the course, within their scope of practice, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the operating system interface to perform basic software functions and to organize and manage directories and files effectively;
- Demonstrate the use of email software to manage email communications, handle contacts, and schedule appointments and meetings in a healthcare setting;
- Demonstrate the use of word processing software to produce a variety of business documents commonly used in a medical office;
- Demonstrate the use of spreadsheet software as a formatting, organization, and calculation tool;
- Demonstrate the use of presentation software as a communication tool;
- Perform business document production through integration of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and email/calendar software.
Assessment will be based on course outcomes and follow the Douglas College Evaluation Policy. An evaluation schedule is presented at the beginning of the course. This is a graded course. To graduate from the MOA program, students must earn a passing grade of 65% (C+) in this course.
Textbooks and materials are to be purchased by students. A list of required textbooks and materials is provided to students at the beginning of the semester.
