Students will receive 1 hour of lecture/demonstration and 2 hours of studio twice per week for 8 weeks.

Course Description
This is an intermediate course in scenic painting. Students will focus on advanced techniques including scale transfers and aging. Other topics will include paint chemistry, drops and scrims, and painting techniques used in the film industry.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the successful student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate safe working procedures and precautions when using scenic paints, materials and equipment.
  2. Learn and practice advanced techniques in scenic painting and the use of related materials.
  3. Learn and demonstrate the correct procedures for the preparation and maintenance of scenic paints and related materials.
  4. Become familiar with the role of the painter in related entertainment industries.

Students are expected to be self-motivated and to demonstrate professionalism, which includes active participation, good attendance, punctuality, effective collaboration, and the ability to meet deadlines.
