The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC was formed in 2012 after high-profile incidents led to major public scrutiny of police investigating the actions of other police. The civilian-led police oversight agency is responsible for conducting investigations into incidents of death or serious harm that may have been the result of the actions or inactions of a police officer, whether on or off duty.

The IIO’s Outreach Team will speak about when the IIO mandate is triggered and what constitutes serious harm, how it conducts investigations, what the legal process of an IIO file looks like, who works at the IIO and what kind of background people working there have. They will also be taking questions from the audience.

Register.

Note: photography will be taking place at this event.
