Admissions requirements

Applicants must meet the following admissions requirements:

  • General College Admission Requirements.
  • A music-specific diploma of a least 60 undergraduate credits including MUSC 1182, MUSC 1282, MUSC 2273 or equivalents.
  • Technology Competency: The applicant will demonstrate competency in Pro Tools.
  • Listening Skills: The applicant will demonstrate competency in frequency recognition, dynamic processing identification, and stereo field positioning.
  • Graduates of Douglas College's Music Technology Diploma program will be deemed to have met these requirements.

Graduation Requirements

  • Successful completion of 30 credits
  • In good academic standing
  • 50% (15 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College.
  • Time limit to complete the program graduation requirements: four (4) years. Any courses completed outside of that time limit will not be usable. Students may seek the permission of the Department/Program to complete a credential outside the approved time limits.

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
  • Use appropriate professional terminology and workflow in the fields of audio mastering, postproduction, interactive audio design and live sound;
  • Create professional quality finalized audio assets in standard delivery formats required by the film, game, and music industries;
  • Create and mix immersive and interactive audio assets;
  • Critically analyze elements of audio, postproduction, and game projects;
  • Communicate effectively in the role of an audio professional;
  • Critically appraise the story-telling arc in traditional linear, immersive, nonlinear and multilinear narratives;
