Admissions Requirements

There are no separate admission requirements for a concentration, but students must be enrolled in a BBA degree program in order to complete this concentration.

Curriculum Framework

Concentration in Human Resource Management:

  • This concentration is available for all BBA degree students.
  • Successful completion of at least 21 credits.
  • 12 credits upper level coursework required.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.0 in all core concentration courses (listed below and marked with an * in the course table)
  • Concentrations are not noted on the credential but will be noted on the transcript.
  • Students taking this concentration will have completed the educational requirements for the CPHR industry credential. For information on additional requirements for the credential and how you may qualify for exemption from the CPHR National Knowledge Exam, students will want to contact the Douglas College Director of Business Programs or the industry body.

requirements upon entering this concentration. On the
other hand, non-BBA students will need to take special
note of: (a) required prerequisites to ensure they are
able to enroll in the required courses and (b) suggested

Learning Outcomes:
Students who complete this program will:
1. Effectively analyze and strategically apply human
resource management theories and principles at the
generalist and specialist level.
2. Evaluate and propose how to effectively leverage the
role of human resources in achieving the operational and
strategic goals of an organization.
3. Develop the skills and abilities in each specialized
human resource management area and effectively apply them
in managing human resources in organizations.
4. Demonstrate professional writing and oral presentation
standards and practice.
5. Obtain the requisite knowledge and skills to pass the
National Knowledge Exam (NKE) towards earning a
designation as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources
(CPHR).
