Graduation Reguirements For Students Completing By Summer 2023:

• Successful completion of 60 credits
• 25% (15 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College
• All courses must be University Transferable
• Time limit to complete program graduation requirements: seven (7) years

Graduation Reguirements For Students Completing After Summer 2023:

• Successful completion of 60 credits
• 50% (30 credits) of all coursework must be completed at Douglas College
• All courses must be University Transferable
• Graduate in Good Academic Standing (Cumulative GPA of 1.50 – See Academic Performance Policy)
• Time limit to complete program graduation requirements: seven (7) years

**A University Transferable course is a course that transfers to one of the Research Universities - SFU, UBC (UBCV or UBCO), UNBC, or UVIC in the BC Transfer Guide.

General Course Requirements:

At least 33 credits must be from Arts and Humanities subjects, chosen from the following list:

Specific Course/Area Requirements:

1. Breadth requirement: 30 university-level credits from at least five subject areas. No more than 12 credits from any one subject area can be used to satisfy this requirement.
2. Writing requirement: One of ENGL 1130 or ENGL 1200, or CMNS 1110, CMNS 1111 or CMNS 1115
3. Reasoning requirement: Either PHIL 1101 or PHIL 1201; or at least three credits from list A and three credits from list B:
• List A:  
  CMNS 1118, CMNS 1218, CMNS 1221, CMNS 3100; ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102, ENGL 1106, ENGL 1107, ENGL 1109, ENGL 1112, ENGL 1114, ENGL 1115 or ENGL 1118; GSWS 1100, GSWS 1101; HIST 1180; HUMS 1101; MATH 1234; PEFA 1116; PHIL 1102, PHIL 1103; PRFU 2201; THEA 1230
• List B:  
  ANTH 2200; CRIM 1150, ECON 1125, ECON 1150; GEOG 2212, GEOG 2213; MATH 1160; POLI 1101, POLI 2201; PSYC 2301, PSYC 3308; PRFU 1102; SOCI 2235, SOCI 2260; SOSC 2140
4. Laboratory Science requirement:  One university-level laboratory science course of at least three credits.  (See an Academic Advisor for eligible courses.)
5. An additional six credits from each of the following lists:
• List A:
  Chinese; Communications (excluding 1099); Creative Writing; English (excluding 1099); French; Gender, Sexualities and Women's Studies; German; History; Interdisciplinary Studies; Japanese; Mathematics; Music; Performing Arts; Philosophy; Print Futures;Humanities; Spanish; Theatre; Stagecraft and Event Technology 
• List B:
  Anthropology; Criminology; Economics; Geography; Geology (excluding 1130, 2201 and 2320);Interdisciplinary Studies; Political Science; Psychology; Sociology

Note: Students planning to transfer to a program at another post-secondary institution should choose their optional courses according to the requirements of that program. Students planning to continue on to obtain any Bachelor of Arts degree must also complete the lower-division requirements for their major. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that all program requirements are met. This should be done by regular consultation with a Student Success Advisor.
