Opticianry Management (Concentration)
Curriculum Guideline
The Opticianry Management Concentration is only available for students pursuing the BBA in Management. To be admitted into this concentration and receive the related Douglas College credit for previous opticianry training and experience, the student must have an up-to-date optician’s license from a Provincial Regulatory Agency recognized by the National Association of Canadian Optician Regulators. In British Columbia, the Provincial Regulatory Agency is the College of Opticians of British Columbia.
All students wanting to pursue this concentration must:
- First, be admitted to the BBA Management program, and
- Next, declare this concentration by submitting a Program Declaration form to the Registrar's Office along with evidence of an up-to-date optician’s license.
Thus, if a student is in the process of pursuing an optician’s license currently or of reinstating a license with the College of Opticians, the student should apply for admission into the BBA Management program (i.e., without declaring a concentration). Then, upon receipt or reinstatement of the optician’s license, the student can seek admission into this concentration and receive the related Douglas College credit.
