Foundation for Music Therapy Studies
Curriculum Guideline
- General College Admission Requirements
- English 12 with a minimum final grade of "C", or approved substitution
- Intake Interview. The student will meet with a music faculty member to discuss their course plan. Students are advised that for many music courses, pre-requisite knowledge is required. Course eligibility will be measured by assessments (e.g. theory and aural skills courses) or auditions (e.g. ensembles, studio instruction courses). Assessments and auditions are linked to course eligibility, not program eligibility.
*NOTE: 3.0 credits in Science or Math are required for graduation from this program. Some courses that fulfill this requirement have science or math prerequisites. Please check individual courses for more information.

Note about program flexibility:
There are many possibilities other than the above plan, with regards to course order and options. Here are some examples:
- changing ensemble choices from one term to the next: this would result in more ensemble courses numbered 11XX, and none at the 24XX level
- taking Music History options in the 1st year, and waiting until 2nd year to take Music Theory and Aural Skills courses
- meeting the Science / Math course requirement in the first year, and taking English later in the sequence
- taking courses in the summer term
- PSYC 1100 & 1200 may be taken in either order, or concurrently
Therefore, the following graduation checklist may provide a more comprehensive view of the program than the curriculum framework.
